Have you ever struggled with the maths behind a solid nutrition program?
I get it. Some folks just prefer having things set out for them.
In that case, you’d probably enjoy using Carbon Diet Coach.
Many of my clients have taken to using this app alongside the training programs on this website, because it’s based on the same foundations as The Shred System nutrition plan and the app does all of the “thinking” for you.
It was developed by Layne Norton, PhD and dietitian Holly Baxter Norton, who have written some of the best books on sustainable fat loss over the last couple of decades. Most of my own nutritional approach was born from the thousands of hours I spent learning from these guys.
So how does Carbon Diet Coach actually work?
Well, first thing’s first: don’t confuse this with My Fitness Pal…
… It’s a different beast entirely!
Instead of just working as a simple calorie tracker, Carbon Diet Coach actually charts your fat loss journey from beginning to end, adjusting in real-time as you make your transformation.
After setting up some initial nutrition targets based on your goal and your current situation, the app gives you 2-3 weeks to follow your targets and report your results.
Upon reviewing those results, the app makes the necessary adjustments to your nutritional targets.
It’s literally a coach, and the goal is to drive you towards your targets while keeping your calories as high as possible (because this boosts adherence and increases results).
Lots of my clients have used it to great effect (I use it, too), because it works as a “hands free” way of running the same nutrition principles I speak of in The Shred System, without having to work out any of the numbers for yourself. The app will continue to make micro-adjustments to your targets every time you reach a plateau, and features a stack of different nutrition styles which you can flip between as you train (low carbs, ketogenic, low fat, maintenance mode, etc).
Finally, in step 10 of The Shred System nutrition plan I advise you how to begin reverse dieting (the process of re-adding calories slowly without losing any of the fat loss results you’ve achieved), and the app even has that built in!
I’m a big fan! You can check it out here, it’s well worth it.
