Today I will be looking at H2N Nutrition Diet Whey in our latest supplement review to see how it stacks up as a fat loss whey protein supplement.
Before we do that, I want to explain something.
Many people out there are using the wrong supplements to support their goals.
I’ve known clients in the past struggle to lose weight and, when I’ve seen their protein supplement, I’ve realized why. It’s not uncommon to have someone who desires fat loss as their primary goal to be consuming a mass gaining shake without realizing it.
As far as they’re concerned, it’s just a protein shake, and it was on sale.
But there are different types of protein shake, with certain things you should look for before buying a product.
H2N Nutrition Diet Whey Review
I know a lot of you guys like my blunt honesty when it comes to supplement reviews, so today will be no different.
You may have noticed the little H2N Nutrition badge on my about page. That’s because H2N are a good company with a solid range, and I don’t mind promoting things like that to my followers.
So it’s no surprise to see that H2N Diet Whey is a great addition to that range.
As you can see below, I have awarded it an impressive 4 stars on my deliberately harsh supplement rating system.
The Key Ingredients To Look For
When fat loss is your primary goal, protein is your best friend.
In my best-selling fat loss plan The Rip Down, I recommend clients consume as much as 1.2 grams of protein per lb of body weight.
So getting a good supplement is important, as it allows you to hit your daily target without constantly cooking and eating.
A good whey protein for fat loss will do three main things for you. They are as follows:
- 15-25 grams of protein per serving
- Less than 5 grams of carbohydrates per serving
- Less than 5 grams of fat per serving
A high protein blend which is lower in carbohydrates allows you to boost your daily protein intake without also increasing your carb consumption – a mistake many people make.
The inclusion of added ingredients like green tea extract and l-carnitine is said to increase the fat burning aspect of the product but, as with all diet whey formulas, the main benefits (by far) come from the solid protein formula itself.
H2N Diey Whey Performance
Now we’ve established what to look for in a “diet whey” protein supplement, let’s look at how H2N Nutrition Diet Whey performs.
As you can see below, it does its job easily.
- 21g protein
- 4.2g carbs
- 1.8g fat
The product also contains 120mg green tea extract, 150mg acetyl l-carnitine, 15mg CLA, and 120mg acai berry, but the important work has already been done.
21 grams of whey protein is perfect for spiking muscle growth.
This was shown in a 2009 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, where researchers found 20 grams to be the “sweet spot”, spiking almost the same anabolic response as a dose twice in size! (1)
Another good move has been made in delivering that protein in the form of a blend (as opposed to one sole protein source), as this has also been shown to improve results. (2)
In terms of nutritional quality, it ticks all the boxes that we are looking for in a great fat loss whey protein supplement.
And that is exactly why I recommend it to my clients with fat loss goals.
I’d also like to point out that many of my clients have reported this particular supplement to be the best tasting whey protein they have ever used (coconut flavor in particular).
