I love Easter eggs, and I ain’t talking about the chocolate kind.
Back when I was a kid the image of Stallone driving past “The Schwarzenegger Presidential Library” in Demolition Man blew my mind, and don’t even get me started on the iconic scene where we see a Predator dusting off a Xenomorph skull!
So if you’re anything like me, you’ll be delighted to learn that I hid several little references inside the russhowepti.com design work. Most of these things have gone unnoticed for years, but today I’m going to show you some of my favourites.
(And yeah, there’s more still hidden!)

Greg Plitt Gold
I’ve never made any secrets of the fact that Greg Plitt was/is my hero.
The man taught me so many valuable lessons about fitness, owning a business, and how to conduct myself as a man. The day he died shook me to my core, and the fitness world has never felt the same since.
Greg left such a huge mark on my life, and I wanted to pay my respects to him on my website too, so shortly after his passing I altered the colour of my official logo from blue to the same shade of gold used by Greg, a change which is still there all these years later.

Newcastle United Colour Scheme
I’m a Geordie, and I was born and raised on Newcastle United Football Club.
I decided to work this into my website by making the main colour scheme black and white.
You might’ve heard me speak about how important my relationship with my Granda was during my younger years. He helped me to overcome a nasty hip injury and learn how to walk again (which actually got me in the gym for the first time at nine years old and led to this whole career!).
He’s also the guy who got me supporting Newcastle.
I’d stay at his house every weekend, racing there straight after school on Friday afternoon and getting lost in his collection of football memorabilia and tuning in to listen to Kevin Keegan’s classic team every matchday.
Using this colour scheme is both a homage to the team and also to the man who played such a crucial role in making me who I am today.

Cobra Kai Fonts
My teenage son recommended we watch Cobra Kai during lockdown.
It became our thing, constantly making references and jokes that his mother thought we were silly for (“Send it to the internet!”), so I worked the Cobra Kai font into many of the blog headers and pages of my website.
I’ve redesigned the site since then, but you can still see it in the recipes section.

The Quote From Ultimate Warrior
This has been on my website since day one.
It’s actually a quote from former WWE Superstar The Ultimate Warrior.
I was working as a full-time personal trainer in a local gym when I started creating the very first version of this website all the way back in 2011. I took some coding classes to help me take my business online (it wasn’t really a thing back then), and I found it super hard!
Heck, I’d been surrounded by dumbbells my whole life, but in that classroom the only dumbbell was me!
“You have within you an iron will. One which will not bend, and will not break. It is waiting for your attention.”
– The Ultimate Warrior
This quote from The Ultimate Warrior hit me like a brick, and I decided to look him up as I hadn’t seen him since I was a kid. It turns out he’d become a gym-based motivational speaker, and a pretty darn good one at that!
This journey led me to the video you see down below, which lit a fire under my ass and I went on to nail the coding class and lay the foundations for everything you see here today.
